VW Golf SV now on scheme

Just looking round the Motability site this morning and noticed the new Golf SV MPV is now on the scheme from a very reasonable £249 AP. Wasn't on VWs own motability site so went to have a look at my local dealer. Nice access height, seat goes a couple of inches behind the A pillar when fully back and down but manageable for me at 6' 5" so everyone else would have loads of room

Decent size boot, seats better than the Tiguan I looked at and certainly better than my present Qashqai. Only down side is no parking sensors on the spec levels available through Motability. Availability is within a week or two for most versions/colours.

Strangely the SE offers some better specs than the more expensive Bluemotion version, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lumbar support for drivers and front passengers seat, Automatic coming/leaving home lighting, Dusk sensor (automatic driving lights)

Is a fine car. Bigger and more practical than standard Golf. Petrol engine has extra 3hp but is slower than golf as heavier and a bit more thirsty.

I'm quite tempted but waiting to see what happens with Fords Kuga pricing when the new engines are released (supposedly very soon). The only down side is the lack of parking sensors, at an extra £450 it almost triples the AP on the lowest Petrol spec and doubles it on the SE diesel so they're quite expensive!

I'd be haggling with the dealer regarding the parking sensors - they are usually a dealer-fit option anyway so you could get a fair discount.

As for the Bluemotion spec, that is mainly aimed at fleet buyers, the cost is higher as the engine spec is improved over standard and not interior specifications.

The VW website lists items in £ order and not necessarily options order.

You can buy parking sensor kits for as little as £25, if you have someone who can fit it for you.

Not sure how good it is at that price, but looking at the photo they include the hole cutter for the sensors, always a good sign.

Don't do this with a Motability car, this can only be done with privately owned cars - owned by you.

You can get professionally fitted aftermarket options fitted but only with the express permission of the vehicle owner - Motability.

Kick myself and go sit in the corner- should have mentioned getting permission first.

They did at one time let you fit upgrades yourself, I added various options to my fathers motability cars, but with modern computerised vehicle electronics I can see why they would now insist it is done by a garage.
