    2014 Q2 Prices

The new prices are starting to trickle down into the system, anyone who has any news can add them to this post. Looks like Vauxhall is first, as usual. Here is the link to the prices:

Looks like they added the Cascada convertible, and dropped the electric Ampera to £1999.

    Happy hunting.

Having studied the prices in some detail (though I will give way to Paul's superior knowledge in this respect) I see that some manufacturers prices hardly change from Q to Q. VW, Vauxhall and Ford are good examples of this, with Ap's typically the same or £100-200 different, whereas some like Volvo are up and down like a yo-yo. As a Volvo is a possibility for me next year its going to be a question of waiting 12 months and looking at the prices.

I love my new Volvo, had it 2 weeks now and so glad I decided to go with it. I was a bit miffed that I ordered mine 11th Dec, AP was £699 and when the Q1 came out at the end of the month it had gone down by £200. But as they say Que sera sera.

Is it the V40 cross country D2? Which spec did you go for? What's attractive about a Volvo is their resale values. They depreciate quickly so if PIP does not happen for me, a reasonable sum should secure the car. And its a very good spec on the Se Lux. Would be interested to hear how the MPG's are going. I was attracted to a 1 series partly because of the 62.8mpg. I am achieving only 46-48mpg!
I recall in 2009 I looked at a Golf and S40 with AP's of £1799 and £1999. Come Q2 the golf was £999 and the Volvo something like £4500! The days before the price cap. Went for the Golf, bit of a no brainer in the end.

I'm also in that boat of disappointing mpg, as I do 10-12k miles a year I really need a more economical way of getting around.

I'm even thinking of ditching Motability and buying a citycar - VW Up or possibly the new Renault Twingo or new Citroen C1 just for my commute, and a larger 2nd hand family car for the long distance journeys.

But to be honest this year is going to be financially tough, we are 9 weeks into the adoption and my wife's salary is about to halve, I'd love to be getting more than the 350 miles to a tank, £65 fill up, approx 35 mpg right now!
    Motability Car History
05/09-05/12; Nissan Qashqai 1.5 Diesel Tekna; 36,500 miles; avg 41.1mpg
    06/12-07/15; Ford C-Max 2.0 Diesel Titanium Powershift; 35,400 miles; avg 37.8mpg
    07/15-09/17; Skoda Octavia 1.6 Diesel SE-L DSG; 28,200miles; avg 43.9mpg
    09/17-Present; VW Touran 1.4 Petrol SEL DSG; 11,600miles; avg 35.9mpg (28.6 - 43.9mpg)

For some people, owning a small economical car and hiring a bigger one for family holidays works. Obviously depends on how often you need the bigger car.
