Which Energy Company

Just wondered which companies others use.

I understand it's a variable charge depending on type of payment, economy 7 - etc etc.
Daughter is with British Gas Duel Fuel and I'm looking to change if possible.

She pays monthly into the post office.

Have had a suggestion to look at Utility Warehouse and maybe combine phone/internet with payment - anyone else use them and if so what are they like?

I would prefare to change her over onto D.Debit. I know internet payment would be cheaper but I have to think that if anything happened to me and I couldn't do it, it would need sorting out by someone else - so at least D.D is a safer option.

I would welcome views of others.

Utility Warehouse have consistently scored very high (Top 3) in customer satisfaction surveys http://www.which.co.uk/switch/energy...faction-rating

The best way to save money with them is to combine as many services as you can, the more services the greater the saving.

I did look at switching to them as my brother swears by them, but they only worked out £40 cheaper than British Gas combined and I have a deal with British Gas were I get a discounted annual service, which works out better than switching.

I also didn't want to move my TV/Phone/Broadband package as I prefer Virgin.

I'm sure your daughter will see savings though, and paying by direct debit is always the cheapest - you save more by not getting paper statements.

Do you know if the £135.00 I have got off her electricity bil wil be transferred?

I doubt it will be unless Utility Warehouse have a similar scheme they can apply. - Just ask them

On this mornings news Ofgem are stopping energy companies from upping their fixed priced rates once a consumer has signed up for it.
About time too.

Its bad, butitsnot all that bad. British Gas are giving you £135 with the warm front scheme on top of that they are giving you another 60 to help, so thats £195 of your winter bill. They dont give it to you in cash, they just take it off your electric bill or you can transfer it to your gas bill

Fixed electricity and gas prices until 31st December 2017
Protect your energy prices until 31st December 2017 when you pay by Direct Debit or on receipt of your bill
Receive a £90 discount each year if you pay for both electricity and gas by Direct Debit
No early exit fee.

I'm with the Co-op and it all seems very straightforward. They have one tariff and a separate standing charge, so you can see what's going on and they're upfront about their pricing. They're a mutual as well!

Richard Npower are a nightmare to deal with and constantly change policy.
A cheaper deal is the 'Fixed April 2015' new tariff. Works out about 30 pounds a month less than the 'Dec 17' deal. But I guess it varies so question them.
