Exclamation UN tells UK to scrap bedroom tax!

Just come across this which might raise a few eye brows but will the UK government follow and do what is asked?

I read headlines on this but didn't get the chance to read the article.
Will the government do what it's asked - I doubt it.
Can the UN do anything about it - probably not

More on this from the Daily Mirror, http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news...-rules-2265620

Nothing might come of it, but it is highly embarrassing for a 21st century UK government to be "told off" like this by a UN official.

A bit off topic, but the first successful bedroom tax appeal happened recently in Scotland,

    http://nearlylegal.co.uk/blog/2013/0...ms-that-arent/

Although the property in question is a bit out of the norm, it does show that an appeal can be successful on the grounds of the normal use of a room, if not as a bedroom, and the size of any such room.

I also know that a large number of appeals are due to be heard by First Tier Tribunals on grounds of discrimination, and for various other reasons.

Another news article on yesterday's tribunal result, also contains a video...
    http://news.stv.tv/east-central/2390...l-bedroom-tax/

It seems that a room of less than 50 sq ft cannot be considered a bedroom.

About today's news, i can already write the PM's response, it's not a tax, it's a spare room subsidy, and we're all in this together....

How many spare rooms does he have in his tax payer-funded house?

LMAO... Tories are demanding an apology... the UN "didn't even call the Spare Room Subsidy by it's correct name"

But Cameron is right it's not a tax and it's a spare room not bedroom subsidy sadly I got caught out with this months ago a lady came in said her bungalow has been said to have an extra bedroom I took a look it's a dinning room but the council stated it could be used as another room or bedroom, she appealed and lost but the fact is the kitchen is so small you cannot move in it, and the dinning room could be used as a bed room, so she is now paying an extra £14 a week.

They stated you can eat a meal in the living room and you do not need a table.

Then another lady who the council called a bed room she tenant called a box room and the court agreed, it's all open to who is doing the case.
