Can you get PIP for Irritable Bowl Syndrome?

I just got a letter saying I will need to apply for PIP in the next few months as I am currently on DLA, lower and middle rate.

One of the reason I get it is for IBS and I am just wondering whether or not I will be able to get PIP for IBS Irritable Bowl Syndrome? Does anyone know?

I was also wondering what sort of medical evidence/reports I could get for Irritable Bowl Syndrome for PIP, if PIP will allow claims for IBS that is?
Can anyone recommend other organisations or specialists I can ask my doctor to maybe refer me to or any private specialists you maybe know of who in relation to my IBS who can provide more in depth evidence and medical reports about IBS and how my IBS personally effects me?

Can you get PIPs with IBS depends on how it affects your daily life.

I suffer with IBS and I can mess myself two three times a week, this is because I've lost my bowel functions.

But we are really struggling at this time to know what they are doing, DLA it took us years before we knew that they did not care so much about the illness or disability as the actually needs you had, cannot wash or cannot change your self.

The fact is it will all depend on how this illness affects you.

I would say it's to late now to look for specialist even if you paid them.

Your best bet is your GP and if you have been seen by any specialist.

there should be a contince nurse you can ask to see even without seeing your dr she is the one who can supply both the support you need and the report needed to help your case

Basically IO have DLA until Nov this year and I got a letter saying I will need to apply for PIP before it runs out in Nov.
So do you think I still have time to get specialist reports etc for when I apply for PIP?

Are you also going to apply for PIP for your IBS when your DLA runs out? If so, what evidence are you going to supply for PIP in support of your IBS?

Thanks Dave, very helpful. I will call the NHS and ask how I can apply for a contince nurse.

Dave do you think they will offer help and advice on the phone as its hard to get out at times due to the IBS.

I would say either chat with CAB, talk with your GP, ask the incontinence nurses because you would need to be incontinent of your bowel, in other words you would like me mess your self at least four times a month, I will mess my self at least once or twice a week.

If you look at the system for getting PIP's it's not giving us much hope sadly so get help from the CAB or the site I have put up, it's interesting reading.

Slightly different subject but will PIP be exportable if living in another EU country, like how part of DLA is exportable.

Like me I'm sure you would need help in washing and changing your self would you not knowing the pain your in with this...
