Yeah up in Scotland the 150 got automatically deducted from our CT bills.

Now we wait for next month for the first payment of 326.

The payments will be made "from 14th July" so it's possible that you won't actually see it until August.

EDIT - StueyR has pointed out that the guidance has been changed and now reads "between 14 July 2022 and the end of July 2022" - so they should be made next month.

Yes, it makes more sense and your local authority then only has to deal with accounts that accounts that showed a negative balance after the £150 had been applied.

Oddly, I got some flack for saying this at another forum

I asked the council to read to me over the phone the bank number they sent the money to, and one of the numbers was wrong, so they said they will correct it, that was today so I will wait a few days before checking again.

Just out of interest, in Scotland we got it taken off the bill, in England they got it put in the bank, do you still have to pay council tax??

It says this on the gov web site
"Most of the first payments of £326 will be made between 14 July 2022 and the end of July 2022. We will update this guidance when payments have been made."

I do yes, its a postcode lottery, the only obligation the council has is to give preferential treatment to OAP's.

On the old council tax benefit, I used to pay nothing, but when they moved to the new system, I still have to pay about £14 month after they apply their deduction. The deduction is applied as credit, but this £150 rebate is applied to your bank account and as far as I can tell has no paper record other than been on the bank statement. I got no letter telling me about it and it doesnt show on my council tax bill.

That explains it then, hopefully the wrong number didn't relate to another account so the money has been sat in limbo rather than being paid to someone else.
