Sounds like a local problem then.

The flat I used to live in would often lose power, 4 or 5 times each winter, along with the 5 or 10 adjoining properties.
Across the rosd was still on.

It was a fault in the big green trasformer box down the road.
As far as I know it's still not been fixed yet, but I moved so it does't bother me any more.

Yes seems the power cut to do some urgent works kicked off this problem because It's been fine until then. I cooked dinner & it wasn't burnt so very pleased I asked. And hopefully anyone else who is having problems will get sorted out start of next week. I'm guessing they might have to cut the power to fix it.

Sounds like a transformer problem and they are running it at reduced power until they can fix it properly.
Which as you say will probably mean it going off again.

The one at my last place has had problems for years, but it will need heavy lifting gear to replace it and access is limited so they just keep patching it up.

Just another thing, you can call 105 to report a power cut (I believe this allows you to check to get updates as well.)

We had a bit of flickering with yesterdays storm, but thankfully not power cuts. Despite quite a few in the county overall

Arh can understand why it's not getting fixed then Nuke, but one day the patching up will stop working.

Just thought I would finish this thread off, the power never went off anymore, & I seem to be back up to full power microwave wise & the lights. The only thing that's stayed very slightly longer to reach the temp is my cooker, but it's just 2 mins longer so no problem there either.

They must of been able to fix whatever it was without cutting the power or done it over night which I wouldn't know about.

You would know if the power went off overnight, your digital clocks and timers would need resetting.

Oh my days! you couldn't make this up.

Went outside & the security light came on like it should but then it went poof & broke. All the lights in the house not working. So luckily driving family member was coming over anyway & had to stand on a ladder & put the switch back up as the security light tripped them. Bit ironic don't you think

Meanwhile kitchen tap has sprung a slow drip, not from where the water should come out but where you turn the water on. And I wish my run of bad luck would end at objects but it's now gone into humans. My Uncle died in hospital not covid related then 16 days later 10th of Dec his sister my Auntie dropped dead at home on her own.

Lights are back on again for now I think I will say this time

Electric is still on so far.

Uncle that lost his Brother & Sister has covid. He has had it for 10 days now & still lateral flow's are coming up positive. He sounds okish. Other side of the family my Uncle lateral flowed positive & couldn't get a PCR test or a few days. He sounded really rough but yesterday said he felt a little better so fingers crossed there.

And something with scratchy nails has decided to come & live in my roof. Heard it for the first time this morning, not sure if it's a bird or rodent. All's gone quiet since lunch time hoping it found it's way back out. Or it's having a rest before putting hob nailed boots on to liven up my evening/night. Hope everyone else's 2022 is going well so far.

And the kitchen tap is still leaking slowly I'm trying to wait until covid rates go down again so everything crossed it stays a slow drip

But I am very grateful I have electricity, there's always something positive somewhere to find
