Eye and dental care on state pension.

Hello. I took my state pension last April 2021 so new to it. Before that i was on esa (Income based) and i knew where i stood when it came to dentist & opticians (no charge) Now i am in that area where i"m not sure if they can slap a big bill on me if i needed lets say, dental work for instance. I get SP of £198.63 a week. Prev esa £135 pw. The diff being £63 ish a week but, after the council puts their sticky fingers through it i have to pay £39 towards rent and £13.25 CT a week. So i"m still better of with pension to the tune of £10.75 a week. ("WOW" that wil buy you a tin of snuff and a news paper.) So, don"t know if i would have to pay for things now! Thanks.

Does your state pension include Pension Credit Guarantee Credit? (It probably does if you were on IR ESA, but everybodys circumstances are different).

    Dental:

    Eyecare:
You are entitled to free eye tests by being over 60, for the cost of glasses see:

I don't know everything. - But I'm good at searching for, and finding, stuff.

Hello nukecad. It does not say on any paperwork they have sent me about PCG. All it says is i will get £198.63 (Higher) pension. Perhaps i should ring them and ask "if entitled" to one of them cards, could save a lot of embarassing questions in the long run if entitled to free. Stay cool, ta.

Hard to tell then, but you're possibly/probably not getting PC.

If you are not then you'd have to try the other routes in those links to see if you can get help with the costs.

All your rent & council tax would be paid if you were receiving pension credit.
Like you I receive state pension & worse off than when I received pension credit.

    Life's a bitch.
