Old Mobility Scooter Gives New Life To MS Sufferer

When Roger Chamberlain was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis he resigned himself to a life indoors.

This was a far cry from his previous lifestyle of walking, climbing and sailing. Roger a keen conservationist had played an active part with the National Trust at Sheringham Park, but his MS made it increasing difficult to walk, and finally he had to stop working, leaving him housebound with little to do.

His salvation came in the form of a 20-year-old ex National Trust Mobility Scooter; built like a tank and now Christened “Hetty Hummer” Roger was once again able to enjoy the outdoors. He found his Mobility Scooter could go almost anywhere, through local woods, and Holt country park.

A trip to the North Norfolk Railway’s annual 1940s weekend inspired the first of a series of stories based on “Hetty” and, once he started writing, Roger just could not stop.

So far he has written nearly 30 stories, mainly for family & friends, but now a short story entitled A Message for Freddie has just been published as an e-book, and his first Children’s story Jimmy & Riddlesworth’s Christmas Pickle, both available from Roger Chamberlain at Amazon at 99p each.

Roger says “Hetty “ his trusty Mobility Scooter has given him a new lease for life and a new career too.

I've never heard of the "UK Mobility Team", who are you and what do you do?

Hi Paul, we are a new Website dedicated to "all things" Mobility Scooter from products to articles, reviews and news. We are trying to create a one stop site offering relevant information and advice, and honest product reviews for our visitors. I have actually edited the post to remove that sentance as I wasn't trying to promote our site, simply sharing relevant news with other forum users.

You can put the link back as you're in the correct section to promote your website.

If you post in the Motoring or News sections you may get more responses.

EDIT: Looks like you already have
