    Turny HD Passenger Electric Chair.

Have been reading this forum for months - very informative too - thank you !

Wonder if anyone could give me advice regarding a Turny HD Passenger chair that I have purchased 2nd hand from someone who owned a Honda CV.

It won`t fit into my BMW so I have to purchase a new car <which I was going to do anyway> and have looked at a VW Tiguan/Kia Sportage/Mazda CX5 and a Nissan Qashqai.

Having spoken with Adaptacar, they told me they only have fixings for a Nissan Qashqai for the Turny HD so that leaves me now with only that choice of vehicle. They say there are universal fixings for other makes but the local mobility company are very wary of using Universal fixings saying they have ecountered all sorts of problems with them.

I have had a price from that mobility company to fit seat in the Qashkai and they have quoted me £640.00 for the fitting and fixtures.

    A. Is this price about average?
    B. Could I get a local mechanic to fit it instead or does it have to be an adaption specialist?
    C. Has anyone got a Turny HD Chair fitted into another vehicle <not too big a car though!> which has been successful?
    D. Has anyone owned the Qashqai and would recommend it?

Sorry for so many questions and there`ll possibly more
Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

From the list of Adaptions from the Motability website http://www.motabilitycarscheme.co.uk/main.cfm?Type=CAPI under "Permanent Swivel Seats" it appears that the cheapest installation including chair is £3890

You could try calling the compaines listed to get a better idea on prices.
Find your nearest installer here http://motability.directenquiries.co...ealer.aspx?t=3

These are prices if leasing through the Motability scheme, but remember you should get your VAT back on a private car anyway.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Paul - already have the seat - but looking at the cost - even if I pay £600 to install it, I`ve still saved a couple of thousand on buying a new one

Didn`t realise cars on HP were owned by the finance company thought the owner would have the log book themselves

A bit more info about HP for you...

A hire purchase agreement, also referred to as HP, is a hire agreement which gives you an option to purchase at the end of the agreement. HP is normally a fixed cost (where the APR is set before the contract begins), fixed period loan (typically, 2-3 years) of money to purchase goods, which is secured against the car being bought.

You are the registered keeper of the car and are responsible for insuring and maintaining it, but the finance company providing the HP agreement remains the legal owner (‘has title’) of the car until the amount you have borrowed has been fully repaid and you have decided to pay the ‘Option to Purchase’ fee. However, this is completely optional.

You keep the Log Book (V5) and they are the legal owners until your final payment.

Also about the seat, I meant that you could call the list of installers and ask for a price to fit only.
