Motability extended lease and the Honda Jazz

Well I've had my extended lease hire car for over 4.5 years now. I was curious to know if I took out another lease hire car if the car is returned in good condition (regardless of any claims)would I get the £250 bonus - well yes but they up it to £450 cash bonus!

Makes you wonder why the lease agreements aren't set to 5 years as you don't pay any extra deposits either.

The good news is I've seen a a petrol driven Honda Jazz CVT - like an automatic. Not bad. Higher seats, panoramic overhead glass roof, the headlights turn themselves on when the daylight dips, rain sensitive windscreen that turns the wipers on. Loads of storage space for a small car and all for under £500 deposit this quarter which effectively would only cost me £50 deposit with the above £450 cash bonus. A little cheaper than the £2600 deposit for a new renault scenic.

Well worth considering. The dealership was very accessible, the motability specialist was friendly, courteous, knowledgeable - full marks for customer service.

He'll let me know about the new price change on 1 July and take me for a spin / test drive shortly afterwards.

I tried sitting in every Toyota model - didn't like any of them as they didn't meet my access needs.

Motability did look into 5 year leases but said they did not make financial sense. The cost of servicing and maintainence generally rises after 3 years and as most cars have a 3 year warranty motability would have to foot the bill for repairs too which has an added cost for hire cars too. The additional 2 years depreciation and costs mentioned above negate the manufacturer discounts and VAT free purchase price. They do offer lease entensions on low mileage cars which make up a small % and on WAV's in view of the high AP.
Good luck with your new purchase, should get my new car next week.

Yes I had actually done 5k more than their low mileage guide but as I explained to them that the car met my access needs they didn't hesitate to extend the lease another two years. They must look at a person's circumstances and be flexible with the rules.

I have had a Honda Civic in the past and found it a reliable car. The Toyota dealership experience was quite strange - lots of staff but no welcome can we help - in fact I was completely ignored.

Incidentally the Jazz mentioned is the top of the range Jazz EXL-T 1.4 I-VTEC
The hydrid version isn't available on Motability.

The Jazz is a very reliable car, and has been voted so in several car magazine surveys.

We looked at the Jazz for this year and the only thing letting it down was acceleration and my wife's dislike for all things Honda.

They are very well equipped cars and are actually pretty cheap to buy privately (new & 2nd hand) - something you may want to look into considering your low milage?
