    Funeral expenses payment

My mother in law just passed, anyone know how long it takes to process a "funeral expenses payment" claim?

First thing to check is did she have a paid up funeral plan? Many people take these out as a funeral can be expensive. 2nd, who has Power of Attorney? Because only that person can access her funds (the MIL that is). If there is property to be sold then ditto.

Just checked my mothers payment from 2014 and it took approx. 5 weeks from date claim for the payment to be made direct to funeral director.

Depends if you've already paid for the funeral or not.

Archersmate, a word of warning. You'll get nothing if there is a surviving partner.
