    Sad situation

Not been active for a while due to a whole big mess
Too long to explain right now, but my daughters children have been removed from her and two are with my son and daughter in law and one with me
I have to decide whether to be special guardian or long term foster carer
I am worried about the financial implications
I am on dla low rate care and esa support group
    Any advice gladly received

If you're a long term foster carer you'll get payment for it. It doesn't affect your DLA, and you can get tax credits and for income tax purposes you are classed as nil earnings.
Sorry I don't know about special guardianship.
For foster care you get paid a wage plus an allowance for clothing, food and other expenses.Different rates for different areas but the social worker will have the rates. Good luck and I hope grandchild settles and is happy with you.

    Thank you
I have just signed the paperwork this afternoon
They are paying an allowance of just over a hundred and eighty pounds a week
    Will i lose my esa?
At the moment the situation is temporary

That is sad deebee,I don't think it will make any difference to your esa as the money is not your income it is for your grandchild my son living with me doesn't make any difference to my esa.

    Thanks
    Was worried
Situation means a lot of running around
    Journeys that take two hours
Lots of grabbing something to eat out
And I have three of them with me on contact days
Its been tough on my health, my pocket and my emotions.
    Worse for my daughter though
So far situation been going on since end July
    Went to court Wednesday
    Third time
    Next review end November
Just praying they can all go home
    She is a good mum
