PIP Journeys - the figures Apr 2013-Jan 2017

The PIP Journey is a long one from completing the initial application form.
Along the way, some are awarded PIP on assessment, others have their claim disallowed and request Mandatory Reconsideration (MR). Some are awarded PIP at MR, but most claims are rejected at MR. Some who have claims rejected at MR, apply for their case to be heard at Tribunal and a large percentage have the original decision overturned and are awarded PIP.
To help, or encourage, anyone who is going through the PIP Journey to seriously consider not giving in but to take their case on, I have produced the following (from official DWP statistics for Apr 2013-Jan 2017 announced 15 March 2017, and the quarterly returns for tribunals from Oct 2014 - first return for PIP cases to tribunal - to Dec 2016) and have calculated the actual numbers for each part of the PIP Journey

PIP JOURNEYS - Apr 2013 to Jan 2017

    - REGISTRATIONS: 2,554,100 (new claims: 1,634,000; reassessed DLA claims: 920,100)
    -- cleared: 2,286,600
    --- awarded PIP: 1,272,900; disallowed: 965,500; withdrawn: 44,200
    - MANDATORY RECONSIDERATIONS: 554,600 (new claims: 342,000; reassessed DLA claims: 212,600)
-- cleared: 530,100 (new claims: 331,300; reassessed DLA claims: 198,800)
--- awarded PIP: 101,383 (new claims: 49,695; reassessed DLA claims: 51,688)
--- no change: 428,717 (new claims: 281,605; reassessed DLA claims: 147,112)
    - TRIBUNAL (Oct 2014-Dec 2016): 164,190
-- decision overturned, PIP awarded: 97,178

The DWP Stats for PIP up to Jan 2017 shows that 24,500 registered claims are "in progress".
Unfortunately, the stats do not state percentage or figures for how many of these are transers from DLA to PIP.
