My husband has just moved from using a standing hoist to a sling and overhead track. The problem is getting his trousers down. He wears elasticated jogging bottoms and uses a Conveen but bowel movements are an issue. Any suggestions?

Trousers need removing whilst on the bed before putting the sling on, this is don't by rolling the person to each side to aid pulling trousers down - you need an OT to advise on which coloured strings to use from lying to sitting if you haven't already had this advice.

If your husband still has head support, see OT about trying a toileting sling as this allows the clothing to be pulled up and down for visits to the toilet.
