    Seasonal music question

    Evening all.
Does anyone know titles of songs suitable for this time of year? I mean like Christmas carols but without the religious theme. More like midwinter songs, that the family can sing with the piano/guitar accompanying us. I'll look for the music from the song titles. A snippet of the words would help if it's one I need to search for.
    Any ideas very welcome.
    Thanks.

Hahaha no specific plan, But, there will be a family do at Christmas and there's a mixed bag of people. Some love singing, some will need persuading, some stick to the songs the kids know from school and CDs, a few play and sing easily, some are atheists...it's easy to find Christmas carols, but winter songs are more inclusive and hopefully about something we all experience, whatever our religious views.

I'm sure you'll (should that be Yule?!) find some here.
My favourite is The Pogues-Fairytale of New York.

Sorry if this is pedantic but a non religious Christmas?

Christ Mass - it's about as Catholic as you can get.

I'm not at all religious myself, but acknowledge that many are.

Maybe Yuletide may be a better word, but again that had religious connotations. (Pagan, Wican).

We could always go the USA route and say "Happy Holidays", but that is just as bad because they only use it to mean Christmas and not other holidays.

I think that you will find that most if not all songs about this season have some religious connection, the ones you may think arent will be usually to do with the winter solistice, which was a religious festival in its own right, but some will be very old religions that are not realy practiced anymore.

Oops, perhaps they should have kept me in the hospital.
I don't know everything. - But I'm good at searching for, and finding, stuff.
