SDP following PIP Standard Daily Living Award

Just had 3 brown envelopes !!!

One says I may be entitled to SDP as I was awarded Standard Daily Living PIP (I'm on IS as a full time carer).

My Autistic son lives with me, one of the questions is "Do they pay you or your partner any money for food"? Not sure how to answer this as it's yes and no as I handle his money for him and we pool our income together. Technically it's both our monies that's used for food shopping so he's not paying me for food I buy we're paying for whatever shopping we both get jointly.

Edit. I should add that although we "pool" our money whatever of his that isn't used for his food, clothing etc. is put into a bank account for him so he'll have some savings for when I'm no longer here.

Does anyone know what difference answering yes or no would have?

    Me too!

One was just information on the Carers Allowance rate (my son is on DLA MRC) and the other just confirming no change to my IS rate.

The correct answer is 'yes' as money is being taken from his benefits towards his cost of food.

To be honest, don't get too worried about this. Your son is a non dependent which would usually prevent you from receiving SDP but presumably is on on at least the standard rate of PIP (daily living) or DLA (mid rate care) - otherwise you wouldn't be receiving CA for him, which makes him exempt.

Thanks, I've put yes, about £40-£50pw and added a note explaining that I have to handle his money for him due to his Autism.
