    State Retirement Pension

Hubby has just retired and he has a letter today asking for our marriage certificate or they won't be able to pay him. Why do they need this as I receive my SRP, albeit reduced, in my own right, he is not claiming for me? Will they take my SRP off me and pay him a bit more? I am quite worried as I don't want to lose my SRP, it is my independence.
Anybody know or is it just standard procedure?

They will not take any state pension off you to pay him. It is standard procedure they may hold a date, but may need to verify it with the certificate, but if your pension basic element is below 60% the you may get a top up and they may need to get the marriage verified before that can be done.

Thank you, now that does make sense. I couldn't puzzle it out.
