Closing JSA Claim after Tribunal Win..

I got a txt from DWP this morning:-
"We have received the successful outcome of your appeal. As you are currently claiming Job Seekers Allowance can you please ring 03456088637 to close your claim to JSA. We will consider payment once this is done. "

So I ring that no, no answer, line goes blank. Try again another 10 times, same again. So off I go to Job Centre as its only 2 mins away. Speaks to an advisor there, who tells me that is the wrong no. They cant close my claim for JSA it must be done on phone. So they give me they phone and correct no to ring. Finally I get through, explain the txt I got, then got told I need to ring ESA to find out what date they are paying me from. I say NO, txt says to close JSA and they will then pay me from that date. So they ask what date, I say tribunal date was 16/12/15 so from that date. ok we need to close it from 15/12/15 then ESA can pay you from 16/12/15. Thats fine I say, they then say ESA can take upto 8 weeks after tribunal date to start paying me. So I wont get any ESA or JSA until then. You would think they would be an easier way than this. So anyway my JSA is closed from 15/12/15 and now waiting for payment. I should get approx £120 soon from JSA, then its a waiting game for ESA payments, as its xmas its bound to be late. Just aswell I can borrow money off a friend to tide me over.

    Mmmmm

Personally I would be ringing ESA (I know this is a pain) and checking the date they will be paying you from and then, if necessary ringing back JSA and giving them this date.

I only say this because 1) I am not sure that they take the tribunal date (may be wrong) but 2) you do not want to mess up your back payments which should be from the 13th week of claiming ESA and should include all the added amounts for the support group and any premiums MINUS the amount you received during your claiming JSA ( if I remember correctly you stayed on JSA because of the disability premium) and the assessment rate of ESA until the decision.

    Hope I've explained that clearly!

In short, it will be quite complicated so best to get the dates exactly right and avoid an extra long wait because of some mix up.

It could be that the date you have given is correct but just in case...........

JSA said ESA will be paid from 16/12/15 as JSA has now been closed from 15/12/15. Just that it might take time for the payments to start.

As my JSA claim has ended, does this mean I can stop the job searches and applying for jobs?

Just to update this, I was last paid JSA £210.70 on 10 Dec 15, today 21 Dec 15 they just paid me £107.19. They said JSA would be closed on 15 Dec 15. No idea how they worked the figure out. Waiting game for ESA paying me now, and hopefully back pay.

    £107.19 seems an odd figure.

But to be quite honest between the JSA payments with the disability premiums whilst you were on MR and appeal, the ESA payments (backdated?) I just have no idea.

Don't know what to say other than give it a few weeks to let the payments settle down (see if you get any backpayment or deduction) and then decide if it's worth challenging it.
I don't know everything. - But I'm good at searching for, and finding, stuff.

According to benefits calculator I should be getting £125.05 weekly being in Support Group with Disability Premium.
Was being paid 105.35 weekly on JSA. So I should be entitled to the difference £19.70 for at least 18 weeks £354.60.
Possibly a few weeks longer if I'm entitled to it from decision date 15/07/15.
I dont think the 13 weeks rule applies when migrating from IB to ESA?

I've just had £120.40 paid into my bank today. This I think is for 8 days payment from 7/12/15 to 15/12/15.
    £210.70 / 14 = 15.04* 8 = £120.40.

The payment of £107.19 I believe is payment from 15/12/15 to 21/12/15 based on £250.10 I should be on with Support Group.
    £250.10 / 14 = 17.86 * 6 = £107.19
Both payments received so far have said DWP JSA.

Next payment should be 4 Jan 16 of £250.10.

Which leaves back pay to be calculated from 15/07/15 til 15/12/15
    £250.10 - £210.70 = £39.40 / 14 = £2.81 per day.
    £2.81 per day * 153 days = £430.59. Still owed.
