DLA now must claim PIPS Atos assessment.

I am a newbie so please bear with me. My husband is 67 (14/4) In 1984 after three appeals he was awarded DLA until 2023. Following an RTA. Since then he has had 2 actual medicals & three forms assessments. Now he has had to claim PIPS. We(I) filled in the form on behalf of my husband on self scoring it is a pass but Atos have conducted a face to face, at our home. Can understand this as he has not had a medical for so long. The question of 'peeling a potato' took about 10mins! Our concern is that if he loses the DLA he loses the capacity to leave the house (Motability vehicle) & will h be entitled to any benefit? I have heard so many horror stories that we are worried to death.
Any advice please? & any idea how long before the DWP notify us, the medical was on 19th Oct.
    Many thanks to all

Unfortunately at this moment all you can now do is wait for the DWP to make their decision.

How long this will take depends on the details of your case and the Decision Makers workload in your area.
(Others on here seem to be currently reporting anywhere between 9 days and 4 weeks).

The fact that you got ATOS to come and do a home assessment is a good sign.
ATOS are very reluctant to do home visits unless they realy have to.
(Capita are much more willing to do home visits).

Whatever the decsion, the PIP award will replace his DLA award.
DLA is being phased out and replaced by PIP, (no matter how long the DLA was awarded for).

You will continue to recieve DLA payments until the PIP decision is made.

    Good luck with your decision.
I don't know everything. - But I'm good at searching for, and finding, stuff.
