hi everyone,
I don't know if I am posting in the correct forum
but here goes,my marriage has broken down,
apparently he does not want a sick wife and he
wont be the one to leave.
I telephoned epic to register for a flat when
I told the woman I was disabled she informed me
they did not have disabled flats,that this was not
there policy.
as this is a social housing provider and used to belong
to stoke on trent city council,can they tell me this
is there a law to stop this,the council have a similar
attitude to disabled people for years I sat on there
waiting list for a 2 bed bungalow and even though
I was entitled to this type of property as I have a
carer who needs to stay when I I to unwell to look after
my self,i never got one and had to rent privately.
I'm really sick and tired of being treated in this way
and need some where to live,am I supposed to live in
a cardboard box.
these people talk the talk to the media but I have found
no help at all.
can anyone tell me what I am supposed to do.

First of all you need to get some help and advice about ending your marriage and your rights to stay in the matrimonial home.

and then make an appointment with CAB.

If your current home is best suited for your disabilities then it may be best for you to stay and your husband to find himself other accommodation.

As regards council/social housing, I suspect that they are saying that they have no suitable accommodation for your needs, rather than saying that you are unable to apply. As you will know there is a shortage of social housing and because of your disabilities there is likely to be difficulties in meeting your needs.

I would echo the above. Do you own or co-own the house you now live in? Or do you rent from a housing association? I suggest you contact your council who may be able to advise and also social services? If you rent, was the tenancy in yours/his/ both names?
It is not unusual for HA and councils to have a lack of suitable properties. This is happening to me and countless others.
Have word with CAB, see what your options are and what help you can get.
