Since the 2012 Act, CCGs have a power to make Arrangements for providing vehicles including wheelchairs for persons for whom they are responsible and who appear to have a disability. They also have the power to make arrangements to adapt, maintain, repair and insure the vehicle, including providing a structure in which to keep it. CCGs are also enabled to make grants for adapting (etc.), for buying fuel and learning to drive it. This was previously the power of the Secretary of State under the 2006 Act, which in turn was an updated version of the power in the 1977 Act (to provide “invalid carriages for persons appearing to him to be suffering from severe physical defect or disability”

I used them when I was at Mallorca earlier this year and found them to be awesome to deal with. I would very highly recommend them. They came and dropped a decent enough power chair(Energi Enigma Plus 6mph) off to me at my hotel for 5 days an hour after I arrived and picked it up again an hour before I left for the flight home, all my choice. It was 120 euros for the 5 day hire and an 80 euro deposit which was returned when they picked the chair up with no hassle at all. Everything was booked before I left the UK. It was a Spanish woman receptionist who spoke very good clear English who took the booking and it was 2 English guys who sorted the chair out so from start to finish everything was very easy and I believe if I had a problem with the chair they would have given the same easy service.
