Well after yesterdays good results have had real problems with it today.

Must have pressed that power button at least 200 times, gave up went for a few beers, came home, three tries to boot and here I am again.

Have asked for ideas over at my favourite tech. site http://www.techie7.com/
This is affiliated to the AutoCad site that I moderate and have helped me in the past. (Sorry mods if you class that as advertising).

Will see what the tech heads there can suggest.

Just noticed that my post count is 666 - argh! post quick.

For advanced Win tweaking have you tried "Godmode"?
Godmode is not available in XP, you need Win7, or 32bit Vista (NOT 64bit Vista).
Anyway if the laptop won't boot then you can't get to Godmode, no screen can't get anywhere.

For those who don't know 'Godmode' is a way of collecting a lot of windows and control panel settings in one place and quickly switching between them.

Well on the computer at the library today, laptop will not play nice.

These PC run Internet Explorer, I had forgotten the problems that can give with posting and strange text effects here.

    stree;
I also have had problems in the past with Ff upgrades.
I have found that the solution is to download the full version updater, not the stub updater that is on the big green button.
To get to the full versions you click on 'Systems & Languages' at the download screen.
    or follow this link:

Go to Options (the cogwheel) > Advanced > Updates tab.

Change it from 'Automatic updates' to 'Check for Updates but let me choose whether to install them'.

That way you get notified and can then go get the full version as mentioned above.

PS. Laptop working ok today, am using it for this.

    Well laptop has now died.

    Posting this from my phone.
Not ideal, screen too small to read longer posts properly.

Need to source another laptop/PC, not going to be easy to afford on £101 a week WRAG.
