Old news. The DVLA have done this as far back as I can remember. We all know this happens but we resign to the fact that we cannot do anything. If you are not happy speak to your local MP.
A way around this is not to drive/apply for a driving license. then the DVLA won't have your data.
So what? Seems you have a political agenda to every blooming post. Better they fund themselves to an extent than by us actual taxpayers
Firstly is it 'our data?
A I understand it the data in question, I.e. vehicle registration data, is supplied to authorised agencies so they can collect penalties imposed by them etc. Put aside the questionable tactics used by some parking enforcement companies, these companies need access to registration data. Surely it is right and proper they pay for it?
No single thing can define me; not my work, not my politics, not my hobbies, not my vices and not my disability. I'm way more complex than that!
The link has been removed so I can't comment.
The DVLA has been charging companies for years - where do you think those clampers/private parking companies got your address from - would you rather they gave them everyone for free?
Anyway clamping has been illegal now for over a year so you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

The provision of information to the private parking companies plus the change in the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 allowing the private parking companies to proceed against the registered keeper if the keeper refuses to identify the driver were the quid pro quo for banning clamping on private land.
On balance, I think this is a positive change. The private parking companies sometimes resort to morally and legally questionable tactics, but at least this means they cannot strongarm money out of you by clamping your car and refusing to release it until they are paid.
I for one do not want any agency to sell my data without permission that is not on and is almost like a communist country like the big state big brother watching you.
In that case, I suggest you dispose of any car you have and, while you're at it, return your driving licence with a letter requesting its revocation.
There are lawful reasons why members of the public and certain organisations might need to contact the registered keeper of a vehicle. These include a bringing a civil claim against the driver for damage they caused and pursuing unpaid charges for off-street parking.
Whenever the government provides this sort of data, they have a policy that the requestor pays the cost of the request. If this were not the case, the cost would fall on the public purse.
Information about drivers is supplied to employers in certain circumstances, also I believe insurers have a certain amount of access to driver records.
You are 100% right Flymo. This OP continually starts posts which are political in nature. I don't mind the occasional political post, it gets everybody to engage with their opinion but not when it is every post.
@tinytim: If you don't want the government to have your data then don't apply for an NI card, passport, driving license or any sort of benefits, don't work, don't use the NHS etc etc. The list is endless. Then the government won't have your data.
You do not want to engage because of your political agender or maybe a tory like many disabled are for the life of me I never understand why i have said before i was a life long labour supporter until we got tony blair he lost a lolt of support from old labour and really a new party for workers and sick and disabled would be good.
But we have to look at Greece the people there had just had enough of the cuts and voted in a socialist party so alls not lost.
As to you saying my posts are all political do not read them or do not reply to them as in another post politics does affect us in our daily lifes and by talking about issues it can educate people who just sit back and do not vote.
