Hosted by Shaw Trust and supported by BT, nominations are now open for the UK IT Challenge for Disabled Young People (https://form.jotformeu.com/80532488551359). The UKITC presents a new opportunity for 13 to 24 year olds to enhance their skills and achieve their personal best.

The UK IT Challenge is a 2 day event where teams of disabled young people from all across the United Kingdom will compete in a variety of IT challenges to test ability, creativity and skill, using different computer programmes. Challenges range from designing a poster in PowerPoint to retrieving specific information from the internet to showing off your ability with Excel.

They must have one or more of the following impairments: visual, hearing, developmental, physical or other.

They must be aged between 13-24 years.
They must have an enthusiasm for IT and basic IT skills.
Must be available and able to travel to Asia (for the GITC) in October 2018. All reasonable expenses will be covered by Shaw Trust.

The event takes place on 16 and 17 May 2018 at BT Adastral Park, Ipswich.
Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed for participants and chaperones, and hotel accommodation will be arranged and funded by Shaw Trust.

Below is a summary of what will be covered over the two days:
Day 1

The day will be packed full of fun. Individuals and teams will complete tasks, for example, in Powerpoint and Excel. There will also be other innovative and interactive challenges to test participants. All exercises will be designed by a group of experts from BT and Shaw Trust.

Day 2

A guided tour of BT Adastral Park which test new technology. This part of the day will be highly interactive and participants will have the opportunity to ask questions. The final day will end with an awards ceremony and presentations.
